Wooden Church - Daírteach Phádraig

This building is a replica of the first church built in 441. A.D. when St. Patrick came to Ballintubber. It is entirely a wooden construction with shingled roof. It represents the dawn of Christianity and the first joyful mystery - The Annunciation. This was the church where Mass was celebrated by the priest while the congregation waited outside and later went inside. Tourists and Retreatants use it for shelter to reflect and pray. This church was built by local people on FÁS scheme.
