General Ration Book
Enniscoe, Castlehill, Ballina, County Mayo
This book was used all through the "emergency" as the years of the Second World War were called in Ireland.
Tea, sugar butter and clothes were rationed. The coupons had to be given to the shop-keeper when you purchased these items. Each house was issued with a number of coupons depending on the number of people in the house.
They were used up to 1950.
